PLATO organizes eight colloquia a year where distinguished scholars, journalists, public figures; and other professionals address topics of wide interest. Past speakers include CEO of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Michael Govan; Loyola Law Professor, Laurie Levenson; renowned neurologist, Daniel Siegel; UCI constitutional scholar, Erwin Chemerinsky; civil rights activist, Connie Rice; and Oscar winning producer, Walter Mirisch.

PLATO colloquia are held at the Skirball Cultural Center. The public is welcome to attend. Coffee and cookies are served at 12:45 pm.  The program begins at 1:30 pm.

Prior to joining Berkeley, Dean Chemerinsky was founding Dean of UC Irvine School of Law. His most recent book is We the People: A Progressive Reading of the Constitution for the Twenty-First Century.
